Short Irons

The clubs the are used for hitting the ball from 165 yards or less onto the green are called short irons. Each of these short irons has a number or letter on them. The first short iron is a 7 iron, the next short iron is and 8 iron and then 9 iron. The clubs that are used to hit the ball from 100 yards have letters on them. one has a P on it which represents Pitching Wedge and then there is the Sand wedge which is used to hit the ball out of sand trap... Wow really did I have to say that!!! Just as with the woods these clubs used to made out of iron now they are made of different materials.

The tools of the game

The clubs that the individual uses to move the ball of the tee at the start of each hole is called a Driver: because it drives the ball off the tee. When the game of golf first began the Driver, the 3 wood were actually made of wood, but today they are made of graphite and various other materials  wood is no longer used but the golfers and caddies still call use the term wood to describe the clubs golfers use to start the hole or to hit the ball th distance to the hole is over 250 yards for the pro- golfers or over 200 yards for the regular golfer. Tiger woods

Tiger woods: That name is known to people that do not even know anything about golf. He looks like an athlete and not the stereo typical view that people have of golfers. He has made the news on and off the golf course which is also something the typical professional golfer does. When Tiger plays in a tournment people that are any type of sports will watch golf even though it is a sport they normally have no interest in. 
 Golf is a sport. Yes it is a sport!! That anyone can play not just Tiger Woods. This weekend turn on the TV and give the game a view.
